Regimental flag 4th Cuirassiers

The 4e Régiment de Cuirassiers was part of MacMahons cavalry reserve at the battle of Woerth, and would take part in the ill fated sacrificial charge made by General Bonnemains in order to momentarily halt the German advance, and buy time for MacMahon to extract his army while avoiding a total rout. The 4e was one of the many proud cuirassiers regiments slaughtered that day, never to regain their former glory and strength again.
